Segmentation of the Breasts in MR-Mammography

چکیده

Introduction Contrast enhanced MR mammography is a highly sensitive method in breast cancer detection. Tracking the inflow and washout of contrast agents is used to classify suspect tissue as malign or benign. Segmenting the breasts is needed in order to: • quantify the tissue in fat and parenchyma, • make local elastic motion correction [1] faster and more robust by restricting the registration to the tissue of interest, • prepare the data for improved volumetric display such as volume rendering. Standard segmentation strategies like region growing and closed snakes cannot handle this appropriately. Thus an algorithm is proposed which utilizes image features of MR mammograms efficiently.

Diagnostic accuracy of mammography, clinical examination, US, and MR imaging in preoperative assessment of breast cancer.

PURPOSE To prospectively assess accuracy of mammography, clinical examination, ultrasonography (US), and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging in preoperative assessment of local extent of breast cancer. MATERIALS AND METHODS Institutional review board approval and informed patient consent were obtained. Results of bilateral mammography, US, and contrast-enhanced MR imaging were analyzed from 111 c...

Quantitative Comparison of SPM, FSL, and Brainsuite for Brain MR Image Segmentation

Background: Accurate brain tissue segmentation from magnetic resonance (MR) images is an important step in analysis of cerebral images. There are software packages which are used for brain segmentation. These packages usually contain a set of skull stripping, intensity non-uniformity (bias) correction and segmentation routines. Thus, assessment of the quality of the segmented gray matter (GM), ...

Magnetic resonance imaging characteristics of paraffinomas and siliconomas after mammoplasty.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Breast paraffinomas and siliconomas are granulomas caused by tissue reaction to paraffin oil and silicone injection after mammoplasty. These granulomas usually present as multiple hard masses that mimic breast cancer. Mammography and sonography have only a limited role in differentiating these masses. Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging findings of these granulomas have rarel...

بررسی ارزش تشخیصی اسکن 99mTc-MIBI (Scintimammography) در بدخیمی های پستان

The breast cancer is common in females.Early detection with safe , convenient , noninvasive and accessible diagnostic tools are important. X- ray mammography is still the first choice imaging for breast cancer, but has low specificity and limited value in dense breast and surgically scarred breasts. In recent years , MIBI scintimammography has been used for this purpose. The...

نتایج یک کُد فرترن برای محاسبه دوز غده‌ای در ماموگرافی با استفاده از پارامترهای Sobol-Wu

Background: Accurate computation of the radiation dose to the breast is essential to mammography. Various the thicknesses of breast, the composition of the breast tissue and other variables affect the optimal breast dose. Furthermore, the glandular fraction, which refers to the composition of the breasts, as partitioned between radiation-sensitive glandular tissue and the adipose tissue, also h...
